Criminal Appeals Process

As an established and experienced appellate attorney, Mr. Walker has built a reputation for thoroughness, and for delivering the best possible results for his clients. He has been admitted to the Florida Bar, as well as the U.S. Supreme Court, and the Third, Fourth, Sixth, Ninth and Eleventh U.S. Circuit Courts of Appeals. His extensive experience has provided him with a comprehensive understanding of the criminal appeal process that can serve you well in these proceedings.

Time Is of the Essence

Filing your appeal in a timely manner is critical to ensure that your case receives fair consideration in the Florida court system. Mr. Walker has more than 20 years of experience in appeals, and can ensure that all required paperwork and documentation are filed promptly, and in accordance with the rules of appellate procedure. With his knowledge and experience, you will enjoy confidence and peace of mind throughout your appellate process.

Pursuing Your Appeal

The right appellate attorney is critical to ensuring that your case has a fair shot at being properly reviewed by the appellate court. A carefully constructed appellate brief, outlining the essential facts that were presented in the trial court, and analyzing the applicable law, must be filed. The outcome of the appeal will be based primarily on the arguments in the briefs.  No new evidence may be presented.  In some cases, the appellate court will also require the attorneys to appear before a panel of judges to discuss the arguments made in the briefs. If legal errors were made during your initial trial, the appellate court may overturn your conviction, or reduce your sentence.

Written and Oral Arguments

Depending on the decision of the appellate judges, your case may proceed on the strength of the written arguments, or may involve oral arguments on the part of your attorney and the attorneys for the prosecution. Mr. Walker has the experience and the in-depth knowledge you need to ensure that your side of the case is represented effectively.

If you are in need of the assistance in appealing an unfair trial, or an unjust sentence, Mr. Walker can provide you with the right representation. Call him today at 561-714-9086 to schedule a consultation. He would be happy to help you resolve your issues quickly and effectively.
